Looking for a new laptop
April 19, 2007
If anybody took notice of my enthusiastic posts about Fujitsu-Siemens laptop (Amilo Pro V3505) – ignore them. This thing broke down 5 times in last 2,5 months, so I’m returning this thing and getting my money back. And so I’m laptop-less now, looking for a new one and willing to receive some tips. Here are my requirements:
- Fully supported by Ubuntu Feisty
- I care mostly about WiFi, suspend to RAM/to disk and 3D acceleration
- I can live with some not working accesories such as card reader, but would rather have them supported
- I have no problems with using binary drivers
- Long battery life – 3 hours or more
- less than 3kg weight
- It doesn’t need to be a performance monster, but a dual core CPU is welcome. Ihave no use for 64bit right now.
- Price at about 1000 EUR or perhaps less
- Reliable! I want it to serve for a few years and I don’t want to give it back for repairs. I’m pissed off by my last laptop’s breakdowns so I wan’t it to be as reliable as possible
- No Windows preinstalled. I don’t want to go through the hassle of getting a refund. This is not a requirement, though.
Right now I’ve been looking at Lenovo Thinkpads, which seem to be really nice, except for the windows thingie. I’m also not sure how well do they work with Ubuntu Linux. Any suggestions? I’ll be grateful if someone guided to towards a model I can use.
Najgorsze filmy
April 10, 2007
Właśnie przeglądałem listę najgorzej ocenionych filmów na Rotten Tomatoes i trafiłem na taki cytat odnoszący się do filmu “Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever”:
“When a movie is widely regarded as being inferior to its own Game Boy adaptation, you know “worst movie ever” is not only apt, it might actually be an understatement.”
Boli.
